Let’s Talk, White Privilege

Beginning on Saturday, September 28, a new study will begin in conjunction with our UCC Birmingham congregations. We are studying the UCC curriculum called White Privilege, Let’s Talk: A Resource for Transformational Dialogue. The study will be held at the United Church Center (Pilgrim Church), 2817 6th Ave S, 35233. It will start at 2:00 PM, and light refreshments will be served.
The study has six sessions, meeting on fourth Saturdays from September through March (no meeting in December).
This excellent curriculum was developed as part of UCC’s long-standing commitment to racial equality, lifting up the necessity for Christians to be bold in our opposition to all forms of racism.
Leadership for the sessions is drawn from the participating churches, and we hope that this may be the first of an annual study of this material.
This is a crucial time in our nation’s history. Honesty and courage are necessary to get us beyond the crises of these times, and ending the denial about racism is vital. The faith community must lead the way.
If you are interested in participating in this study, please see Pastor Paul.
